Stihl fs45 head not spinning

stihl fs45 head not spinning

When your Weed Eater won't start, the malfunction often has something to do with cleanliness issues in the carburetor or problems with the spark plug. However, when the head itself doesn't turn, the cause almost always is mechanical. You may be able to resolve it by cleaning the head, air filter or spark arrestor. You may have to disassemble the trimmer so you can service or replace the drive shaft or the clutch. If the trimmer head doesn't turn, the first place to look for problems is around the head itself. It may be restricted by stringy plant stems and roots -- they may spin the bottle gangbang wound so tightly that you have to cut them off with a knife.

  • Pull the starter cord until the engine starts. Squeeze stihl release the throttle trigger to put the engine into idle mode. Pull up on the rubber boot over the spark plug. Unscrew the spark plug and clean it off. Check the electrolode gap on the end of the spark plug, as this gap should be no larger than.

Push down slightly on the spinning electrolode to close the gap. Replace the spark plug and the rubber boot. Move fs45 choke lever to its highest setting, which has an icon that looks like a vertical line between two horizontal lines. Press in on the tab located just below the choke lever on the left side of the motor and head the air filter cover open.

Clean any dirt from around the air filter. Pull out on the felt filter, knock it on the palm of your hand and blow on it to clean not. Do not get this filter wet. Replace the filter and close the air filter cover.

If you have a replacement felt filter, you can install the new one instead. Unscrew the filler hole cover on the side of the cutter head and check for grease. If you do not see any grease, screw a tube of Stihl gear lubricant into the filler hole on the cutter head. Squeeze 5 grams, which will only be a small amount, since most tubes hold 80 or grams, into the head.

Remove the tube and screw the hole cover back in place.

Mount the Stihl FSR trimmer so you can access the rear of the unit and the cutter head can spin without hitting anything. Locate the three screws on the left side of the engine: two adjacent screws near the top and one screw near the bottom. The bottom screw is the idle speed control, the left top screw is the high speed control and the right top screw is the low speed control.

Turn the low speed screw counterclockwise as well, one full turn. Start the engine and let it warm up for about three minutes. Search titles only. Search Advanced search….

I changed the spark plug 3. I pull the carb and looked for any dirt, anomalies, etc. What I Think 1. Spark - seems unlikely that a spark is not happening. It was running 2 weeks ago, and I had been using it this sinning.

Aug 10,  · Well the head does spin around freely. So the pin is not in all the way. I guess thats my problem. The problem is I've not been able to get the pin in that inner hole. When I put the trimmer head on I think I put it on too tight. As it wont spin freely unless I take my hand and turn it. Hence why I . Apr 28,  · Why does the head spin off when I push the trigger. The metal cap (see below that this may be an adapter) that the head screws up to and the head itself. The best thing to do at this point is allow the trimmer to rest for 20 to 30 minutes then attempt starting again. Do not choke the unit, but leave the throttle lock on. If it still will not start, we recommend taking it to your local STIHL Dealer for evaluation. Learn more about fuel concerns. Read more about storing your outdoor power equipment.

Even when I changed the screw settings, it was at least running. It was just either bogging down on throttle, or shutting off when I let off the trigger. Fuel Line - I see gas fly out of the muffler when I initially pull, so that leads me to believe spinnign getting gas all the way through the system.

Anyway, tried to make this as organized as possible. Best, Mike. Joined Mar 5, Threads 16 Messages Hi Mike - I doubt that a bad gas mix would prevent the device from starting. Unless it was really off. My guess is sstihl carb on this. There is likely a diaphragm in the carb which get's stiff and does not function.
